Double Duck started out the back of the Racecourse Hotel, just Tyler, Sheldon, a smoker, and a heap of ideas. They built it from scratch, cooking the kind of food they actually wanted to eat. Word got around, things grew fast, and before long, the little setup out the back became a proper shop in Hamilton.
Not much has changed. Tyler and Sheldon still run the place, guided by the same approach: take your time, do it properly, and let the food speak for itself. What began as weekend smoke sessions turned into something people kept coming back for.
Moving to Hamilton gave DoubleDuck a home of its own. It’s the same spirit, just with more space, more fire, and a few more hands helping out. Every pie, every rack, every bit of smoke still ties back to that first setup behind the pub, where the idea was simple - good food, done right.
Each day kicks off early. Some grab something quick, others stay for a proper feed. Everything comes out of the same smoker, made with the same patience and care that started it all.
